Job Overview:


The Event Captain's primary responsibility is ensuring the setup, execution, and breakdown of event services. Your goal is to exceed client expectations by overseeing the setup, execution, and breakdown of the event. You will be expected to have a deep understanding of events operations and work closely with the Event Coordinator and Event Manager. This is a dual role, and you will also act as a lead server for the event and be expected to attend to guests.


Primary Duties:

  • Read and understand a Banquet Event Order (BEO) and how it relates to the execution of said event
  • Lead the event team through all phases of an event including:
  • Set up tasks and detailing of the venue
  • Executing event service
  • Breakdown of the event space and reset of the event space
  • Ringing in event chits including beverages on consumption and beverage package depletions and sending a simple event recap to the Event Manager and Event Coordinator
  • Interacts directly with the host/client before and during the event to confirm expectations, communicate any changes in the moment with the larger team
  • Coordinates with facilities, management, and culinary team to ensure all phases of the event run smoothly

Executing Service:

  • Manage setting up all needed products and materials for service before the event to ensure efficient and accurate preparation of food and beverage based on Banquet Event Order (BEO)
  • Check in and out with Event Manager, Event Coordinator, or MOD to ensure tasks and communication are clear and understood
  • Work hand and hand with other event staff to ensure there is a smooth understanding of roles and responsibilities during the event

Additional Duties:

  • Understand AV functionality as it relates to Events
  • Uphold Nexus Club’s Values and Mission Statement while performing positional responsibilities
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, as stated in the company handbook
  • Perform other job-related activities as required or assigned by management.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required
  • At least 2 years of hospitality service experience. Experience with private clubs, fine dining, or luxury goods is preferred
  • At least 1 year in a lead server or captain role

Requirements:

  • Experience with event coordination and operations (Experience at a fine dining or luxury venue preferred)
  • Experience leading a team in a hospitality setting
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, verbally and in writing
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • A professional appearance which meets NEXUS’s Personal Presentation Policies
  • Flexible availability on a week-to-week basis and availability to work nights, weekends, and potential holidays
