The Event Manager (Casual) provides professional customer services in the Event & Convention Services Department of the Convention Management Division.ย ย The Event Manager manages the success of meetings, galas, workshops, conferences and conventions, symposia and special event production and events ranging in size. This work is performed under the general direction of the Director for Convention Management.

  • Bachelor'sย degreeย fromย anย accreditedย collegeย orย universityย withย major coursework in Business Administration, Public Relations, Hospitality, Communications, Hotel Management, or a related field; AND
  • Two to Three (2-3) years of significant customer-oriented hospitality industry experienceย preferablyย inย aย conventionย hotel,ย conferenceย orย conventionย center, or significant operating experience with multi-management of meetings and special events.
  • Proficientย inย Microsoftย Officeย Suite.
  • Anyย equivalentย combinationย ofย relatedย experience,ย training,ย and/orย education.
  • Experienceย usingย AutoCAD,ย Socialย Tables,ย Momentusย orย anyย other Windows-based drawing software.
  • Reviews lessee's license agreement to ensure dates, times, leased space andย equipmentย providedย areย accurateย andย contractualย provisionsย areย fulfilled.
  • Directsย showย servicesย staffย andย contractorsย inย deliveringย servicesย forย meetings and events and resolving event-related problems.
  • Coordinatesย effortsย ofย caterers,ย decorators,ย audio-visual,ย Meetingย Services staff, etc., when organizing set-up requirements and client specifications.
  • Acts as primary Events DC point-of-contact for show managers and implementsย theirย specificationsย andย requirementsย forย Eventsย DCย provided services.
  • Inย conjunctionย withย Eventsย DCย andย Destinationย DCย Salesย Teams,ย conducts tours of the facilities for potential customers, provides expertise and consultation regardingย facilityย capabilities andย determinesย theย needsย of the potential event.
  • Assists in the compilation and review of event and contractor charges with appropriate Events DC staff and show management, and reviews documentation for invoice preparation.
  • Preparesย schedulesย andย meetingย roomย specificationsย illustrating requirements.
  • Reviews/Approvesย andย createย eventย floorplans/diagrams.
  • Ensuresย theย availabilityย ofย allย equipmentย contractedย forย customer'sย use.
  • Ensures compliance with all facility and appropriate governmental rules and regulationsย byย theย showย managementย andย allย serviceย providersย workingย onย the event.
  • Conductsย post-eventย critiquesย withย showย management.
  • Assistย theย departmentย toย implementย andย monitorย operationalย policiesย and procedures are being adhered.
  • Performsย aย varietyย ofย relatedย tasksย andย duties asย assigned.
