Job description

The Catering Coordinator and Event Supervisor is responsible for receiving, tracking and coordinating communications and logistics related to incoming catering orders for a high volume catering department that averages $1.8 million in sales annually. Seeing through with accurate reporting when the event has concluded. Collaborating with all catering staff, customers and campus partners, with professional and consistent communication.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $21.91 - $26.09 per hour.
Shift differential is available for eligible shifts, are stackable, and can amount to a higher wage per hour.

- Weekend differential: an additional $1.00/hour
- Evening differential: an additional $1.50/hour

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain professional and consistent communication with customers, coworkers and all stakeholders while maintaining department policies and guidelines. Receive and track catering orders efficiency and consistency.
  • Execute successful events and work closely with Catering colleagues and on-call team to realize the vision for each event. This includes but is not limited to assessing and facilitating equipment, product, and staffing needs; creating accurate signage; managing time and resources effectively; and following up on all aspects of work.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment adhering to all safety standards including and not limited to following allServSafeguidelines.
  • Transportproductsand equipment across main campus,Breadloafand Snowbowlyear-round.
  • Uphold Vermont Lawregardingalcohol service, storage and inventory. Oversee that on call staff perform duties responsibly.
  • Understand and uphold rulesregardingPCI compliance when taking payment forproductand services. Ensure accurate accounting for sales and revenue reporting.
  • Develop andmaintainstrongunderstanding of all software systemsutilizedin the department and within the organization.Master and manage theCatertraxsystem for communication with customers and stakeholders.
  • Manage time and resources responsibly and independently, support training and performance of on-call staff, contribute to continuous improvement efforts, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Collectively 3-5 years prior experience in food services or catering required. Administrative experience preferred.
  • Transferrable skills like communication, leadership, problem solving, teamwork, creativity, multitasking and critical thinking are all valuable skills that we value and the right candidate can be trained in the art of food service.
  • Associate's degree in food service or equivalent experience in food services or catering preferred but not required. Must pass the ServSafe Managers Food Safety course.
  • Ability to have flexibility with both schedule and duties is essential.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Office, Oracle HCM, Excel, web site management skills, Catertrax and 25 Live pro preferred. Office equipment proficiency preferred.
  • Must gain and maintain VT DLC (Department of Liquor Control) certification, Middlebury College drivers license (van, gator and box truck), and PCI compliance.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Must be able to stand for up to 6 hours continuously, as well as frequent bending and overhead reaching with twisting motions. Must be able to lift 10-20# numerous times during the day and up to 50lbs several times each day, must be able to push and pull up to 150lbs frequently. Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.Standing for long periods of time 

Will require flexible schedule typically Tuesday - Saturdays based on operational needs. Overtime and longer workdays 10 - 12 hours may be required.
