Description

Summary:

Assures appropriate staffing is maintained on all Nursing Units; responsible for the clinical and administrative supervision of overall hospital activities in the absence of Administration and Nursing Director/Managers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides supervision and guidance to all areas by visiting units/departments throughout the shift to ascertain status of areas, interpreting policies and regulations to staff patients, and visitors, coordinating placement/transfer of patients, and responding to staffing issues
  • Screens incoming patients for appropriateness of admission/transfer and facilitates placement in proper level of care
  • Functions at all times as the hospital administrative representative by acting as hospital spokesperson, as appropriate, investigating incidents and events and taking appropriate action, interview to provide assistance in problem-solving, and conveying a positive image of the hospital
  • Consults with administrator on-call as appropriate
  • Arranges/facilitates emergency operations as needed
  • Performs clinical functions as needed
  • Intervenes in patient, family associated, and physician complaints and follows up with director/manager and patient advocate as appropriate
  • Provides staffing for oncoming shift; assigns staff utilizing appropriate mix of full time, PRN and agency staff to meet each unit’s needs
  • Makes changes in KRONOS scheduling to represent the most recent staffing plan
  • Monitors and utilizes competency/orientation check lists for temporary reassignment of hospital staff and assignment of agency staff
  • Performs PFT reviews on PRN Pool associates
  • Provides input to director on staff performance
  • Works collaboratively with other house supervisors and staffing personnel within the region to effectively utilize the PRN pool

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • RN License in state of employment or compact
  • BLS

6AM - 6PM 12 HR Shift
