Position Summary

This position will ensure the successful setup, operation, and breakdown of audiovisual (AV) and event technology systems. This role supports student activities, campus events, and Center of the Fine Arts (CFA) for Northern New Mexico College (NNMC) on Espanola and El Rito Campuses. The position, in conjunction with the Events & Student Life Coordinator, Director of Integrated Studies/Arts, and other campus divisions, develops programming that demonstrates innovation, diversity, and service excellence through community outreach and marketing for participants, including students, faculty, staff, visiting artists, and the public. This position reports to Director of Integrated Studies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • CFA Building Coordination: Work in cooperation with the Office of the President, Office of the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs, Office of the Associate Vice President for Student Success, Facilities Department, Arts and Human Sciences Department to coordinate and direct NNMC event calendars, program administration, support special events, and curriculum-supplementing workshops; develop instruction exhibit management, digital media, and specialized installations on a case-by-case basis; coordinate exhibitions and workshops.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot AV, lighting, and stage functions for events (e.g., microphones, sound system, projectors).
  • Maintain, test, and inventory equipment to ensure functionality.
  • Coordinate technical requirements with the event organizers, faculty, staff, and external clients.
  • Create and coordinate the schedule and plan for events to meet guests' needs and expectations and best highlight NNMC's distinctive program strengths, which include prospective and current students in performing arts.
  • Communicate with administration, faculty, and staff concerning specific roles in visits or events, including one-on-one appointments, presentations, technical needs, campus tours, signage, displays, overnight accommodations, catering, and meals.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to campus clients.
  • Provide basic training or guidance to users on AV equipment and systems.
  • Must be responsive and thorough with communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • One to three years of experience in AV support, event technology, or IT support
  • One to three years of experience operating an auditorium.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AA or BA Degree in digital media arts, audio engineering, theatrical production, or related field.
  • Five years of demonstrated experience in event planning, theatrical or live performance productions.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication.
  • Experience with and a demonstrated commitment to working with a multicultural student population.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of the computer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a varied work environment that involves working in the dark, in a theater with tripping hazards, and in an office setting for paperwork, daily organization, and outreach. During live events operations will be varied including in the production booth, on high elevation catwalks over the main theater, and in smaller operations in the little theater.
