Job description

As the Mahj Room Associate you will be responsible for setting up the four automatic tables, turning them on, and preparing them for Mah Jongg play. You will also arrange snacks and drinks and ensure the room is fully set and ready at least 15 minutes before scheduled play begins. During the three-hour session, they will assist with light clean-up as needed. At the end of the shift, they will make sure the room is clean, organized, and properly set up for the next day’s use. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with no benefits package. The Jewish Community Center is an equal-opportunity employer (EOE).

Essential Functions:

  • Have a pleasant and professional appearance, manner, tone, and attitude
  • Extend a pleasant welcome to everyone that enters the J Mahj Room
  • Keep personal phone usage at a minimum and focus on members and guests (no earbuds)
  • Must be a problem solver
  • Be dependable and have excellent communication skills
  • Take initiative and require little supervision
  • Maintain a concierge level customer service for guest and members in J Mahj Room
  • Ability to learn how to use and troubleshoot automatic Mahj Tables.
  • Follow the assigned work schedule
  • Key remains at JCC when room is not being used
  • Leave a list of follow-up or questions for Supervisor if necessary

Education and Experience:

  • Mahj Jongg experience preferred
  • Must be 21 or older
  • Keep to Kosher standards
