Position Summary

The Community Life Assistant helps create meaningful experiences that enhance residents' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Working closely with the Community Life Director and interdisciplinary care team, this role plans and facilitates engaging activities that encourage participation, foster relationships, and support each resident's highest quality of life.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and facilitating engaging recreational, educational, and social activities for residents.
  • Encourage resident participation while adapting activities to meet individual interests, abilities, and needs.
  • Provide one-on-one engagement for residents who benefit from individualized support.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain activity areas, supplies, and equipment.
  • Document resident participation and communicate observations to the Community Life Director and interdisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with nursing and other departments to provide meaningful, person-centered programming.
  • Support special events, holiday celebrations, outings, and community activities.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with activity program regulations and department standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and department training.
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for Madison Park Healthcare by creating a welcoming and engaging environment for residents and families.

Requirements:Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Compassionate, energetic, and resident-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Willingness to complete an approved Activity Professional training program within six (6) months of employment.
  • Knowledge of the aging process and an interest in supporting older adults.
  • Ability to assume leadership responsibilities within the department when needed.
  • Ability to work with residents experiencing cognitive, physical, or sensory impairments.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, transporting activity supplies, and assisting residents with participation in activities.
Preferred Experience
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in long-term care, assisted living, healthcare, recreation, or community programming.
  • Experience working with older adults, including those living with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
  • Knowledge of person-centered engagement and therapeutic recreation principles.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations governing activity programs in long-term care.
  • Experience planning group activities, special events, or volunteer programs.
  • Passion for creating meaningful moments that enhance residents' quality of life.
