Job Description
Position Summary:
Support the head coach in all aspects of a Division I men's ice hockey program, including player development, recruiting, game preparation, and day-to-day team operations to achieve competitive success and maintain NCAA compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with on-ice coaching: practice planning, skill development, systems, special teams (power play/penalty kill) and in-game adjustments.
  • Scout opponents and prepare video/detailed reports for game planning.
  • Lead recruiting efforts: identify, evaluate, and communicate with prospective student-athletes; coordinate campus visits and compliance with NCAA recruiting rules.
  • Mentor student-athletes on academic progress, personal development, and adherence to team standards.
  • Manage team logistics: travel coordination, equipment oversight, and scheduling.
  • Assist with strength & conditioning coordination and injury prevention protocols in collaboration with medical staff.
  • Film breakdown, statistical analysis, and maintaining player performance records.
  • Represent the program at community and alumni events; assist with fundraising and outreach.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Collegiate playing experience or prior coaching experience at the collegiate/junior level.
  • Strong knowledge of hockey systems, tactics, and player development techniques.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and recruiting regulations and a record of compliance.

Working Conditions:
  • Full-time, year-round position with extensive travel, evening and weekend commitments, and high-performance, deadline-driven environment.
