Southern New Hampshire University is currently seeking a Research Support Assistant to aid in providing research support to Shapiro Library users. This position will work via channels such as live virtual chat and email. The Research Support Assistant will have working knowledge of the Shapiro Library website, including databases and FAQs, and uses these resources to guide library users and answer their questions. This position reports to the Research Support Manager. This is a part-time, hourly position for a student currently enrolled in a degree program at Southern New Hampshire University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serves Shapiro Library users by providing research support services via chat and email
  • Develops working knowledge of Shapiro Library services and website, including databases, research guides, and FAQs
  • Assists members of the SNHU community with questions related to research and the Library, and refers to other departments as needed
  • Utilizes customer service techniques to effectively communicate with users and create a welcoming virtual library environment
  • Conducts basic keyword searches for topics to assist users with using the Library databases and has working knowledge of different Library databases and search techniques
  • Creates follow-up tickets for chats to be handled by librarians as needed
  • Refers to Research Support Manager for help as needed and flags questions for Research Support Manager's review or follow-up
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in SNHU degree program
  • Proficiency in English is required
  • Punctual, courteous, respectful and reports to work as scheduled
  • Strong typing and written communication skills
  • Stable Internet connection and comfortability with learning new technology (LibApps)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior customer service or library experience is a plus
  • Experience with utilizing libraries for research is a plus
  • Ability to work within a remote team environment

Compensation
