Description

Interpret radiological studies, report all findings of these studies, and approve the reports for these studies. Communicate with referring physicians as required to facilitate patient care. Perform radiological procedures as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis. Any other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the organization may be assigned.

  • Be dual-board certified in the field of neuroradiology
  • Be willing to relocate to Hampton Roads, Virginia
  • Have a license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Be able to obtain malpractice insurance
  • Be licensed to prescribe narcotic drugs
  • Be able to participate in federally funded, third-party payor programs (e.g., TriCare, Medicare, and Medicaid)
  • Provide on-site coverage Monday through Friday and read fifty cases per day, 80% in neuroradiology, as assigned
  • Participate in an evening and weekend call rotation schedule
  • Provide after-hours coverage within twenty minutes
  • Read between fifty and sixty cases on weekends when scheduled
  • Attend a minimum of one marketing meeting per calendar month
  • Approve or make appropriate addendums to reports at the end of the workday
  • Understand how to use both RIS and PACS during the course of duties
  • Interact with referring physician practices as required
  • Perform patient procedures as assigned
  • Maintain adequate internet connectivity at home for evening and weekend coverage
Qualifications

Minimum Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field
  • M.D. from an accredited medical school

Preferred Education:

  • Fellowship in Diagnostic Neuroradiology

Experience:

  • Three to seven years of internship and residency training, specializing in neuroradiology

Licensure:

  • License to practice radiology in the Commonwealth of Virginia
