One of the most beloved resorts in New England, The Woodstock Inn & Resort, is seeking a Banquet Manager to join the team.

Job Summary:

The Banquet Manager will be responsible for managing service to create exceptional events for guests, ensuring smooth event execution, and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction at events held in an operation’s banquet facility. Excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask are crucial in creating unforgettable private events, weddings, and corporate functions. Responsible for Banquet Operations, capable of managing multiple events simultaneously while maintaining strict quality, safety, and financial controls. Under the direction of the Director of Banquets, implement procedures in the areas of team leadership, guest hospitality, cleanliness, sanitation, safety while maintaining our unique environment.

Job Specifications:

  • Expected Pay Range: $80,000 annually
    • The pay scale shown is the range that we reasonably expect to pay. Actual compensation offered may be adjusted based on a candidate’s qualifications and/or experience.
    • Shift & Schedule Availability: Full-Time Year-Round
      • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

Event Execution & Service Leadership

  • Lead banquet teams in the setup, execution, and breakdown of events with a focus on timing, presentation, and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure food service is executed flawlessly in accordance with Banquet Event Orders.
  • Oversee beverage service including wine pairings, curated cocktail offerings and bar operations.
  • Serve as the on-site liaison for clients, ensuring their vision is realized and expectations exceeded.

Team Management & Training

  • Conduct pre-shift briefings to align staff on service standards, timelines, and special requests.
  • Train banquet servers and bartenders in luxury service techniques, food and beverage knowledge, and resort standards.
  • Provide supportive coaching and feedback to team members in order to maintain a culture of excellence.
  • May manage multiple events at the same time by overseeing assigned Banquet Captains.

Beverage Oversight

  • Manage inventory and requisitions for banquet bar setups, ensuring efficiency and cost control.
  • Ensure that the team operates under compliance with Vermont State alcohol service regulations and resort policies.

Operational Excellence

  • Review, understand and interpret BEOs while coordinating with culinary, beverage, and event planning teams for flawless execution.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of all banquet service areas.
  • Participate in post-event debriefs to identify opportunities for improvement.

Guest Experience

  • Anticipate guest needs and personalize service to reflect the resort’s Elevated Service standards.
  • Handle VIP requests with discretion and professionalism.
  • Be familiar with and ensure compliance with procedures regarding guest dietary preferences, restrictions and allergies.
  • Ensure every interaction reflects the Woodstock Inn & Resort’s values.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Banquet Manager or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role in a luxury banquet operation.
  • Advanced knowledge of food service and beverage operations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • WSET Level 1 or similar wine knowledge.
  • Work regularly requires or varies between evening, night, holiday, or weekend assignments.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Significant portions (more than 50%) of daily assignments involve prolonged standing, transporting material or equipment, or lifting, moving, or carrying heavy (over 30 pounds) materials for intermittent periods throughout the day.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
