UNIT DESCRIPTION
The Access Control Unit (ACU) provides quality access control customer service, monitors Intrusion Detection Systems, and provides dispatch and emergency response oversight to safeguard FBI Headquarters, Quantico, and CJIS facilities through a comprehensive and integrated access control program. ACU maintains a Security Operations Center (SOC) at each location that is operational 24/7/365. Additionally, ACU has oversight of the FBI SACS Badge program and the Intelligence Community Badge Interoperability Program.
KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a current, permanent FBI employee
• Must be able to obtain an SCI clearance
• Shiftwork days, evenings, or nights to include holidays are required
• Selectee will be required to complete form FD-887, Request for Access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)

MAJOR DUTIES:
GS-09

• Handles dispatch duties, to include responding to FBI police on a two-way radio, logging events, answering the phone, dispatching officers, and providing customer service.
• Responsible for overseeing visitor management and access control to ensure the safety of FBI employees, contractors, detailees, and visitors while in FBI facilities.
• Checks identification cards (IDs) of non-credentialed visitors, issuing the appropriate badges as guests enter the building, and ensures visitors have an appropriate escort.
• Schedules appointments for employees, contractors, and other government agency (OGA) personnel to be photographed and creation of Security Access Control System (SACS) and Intelligence Community (IC) badges.
• Codes badges for the appropriate building and room access as authorized.
• Participate in the coordination of visitor access for large events and ceremonies at FBI facilities in support of the mission.
• Provides good customer service to internal and external personnel .

• Performs duties associated with emergencies (medical, bomb threat, fire, etc.)
• Monitors alarms and security cameras both inside and outside the facilities, paying attention to detail in order to identify any suspicious activities, and notifies response personnel as necessary.
• Maintains appropriate automated/manual logs, journals, and computer databases.
• Runs reports of the badging system to respond to Security Office requests.
• Maintain statistical data as it pertains to reporting the number of visitors, lost badges, and Security Operations Requests (SOCR) processed.

Specialized Experience (SE)
GS-9: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-7 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

• Interpreted, evaluated, and applied security guidelines and policies
• Conducted security interviews and briefings to prepare analysis.
• Experience in planning and completing assigned tasks.

GS-11: In addition to the above, applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-09 grade level. Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-9 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

• Reviewed, analyzed and resolved security issues to protect personnel, data, and facilities
• Analyzed investigative reports to develop information regarding security vulnerabilities; developed leads; and proposed recommendations
• Experience in conducting security interviews and briefings and prepare a written analysis.

Education
All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:
GS-9: Applicant must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
GS-11: Applicant must have a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.

The 12-month waiting period begins the day an employee reports for duty at the new location.
