JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Classroom Teacher
I. General Description and Qualifications
  1. The Classroom Teacher supports and advances the mission of FCS by directing the activities of a class of students; reports to the Principal.
  2. The Classroom Teacher should have the following qualifications:
  3. Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord and the Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people
  4. Regular in attendance at an evangelical Protestant church
  5. Commitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior
  6. If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationship
  7. Strong commitment to Christian education
  8. Bachelor's or graduate degree, including education courses
  9. Committed to keeping ACSI or state certification current according to FCS guidelines
  10. Ability to maintain an orderly learning atmosphere
  11. Enthusiastic, sensitive, loving rapport with students, openness with parents and staff
  12. Strong grasp of subject matter and keen ability to communicate concepts to students with a variety of learning styles, stimulate higher level thinking, and involve students in lessons
  13. Well organized, diligent, creative
  14. Ability to carry out physical requirements related to the job and building environment, such as (but not limited to) climbing stairs, riding the bus, supervising students both out-of-doors and indoors
  15. Teachable, servant spirit

II. Responsibilities of the Classroom Teacher
  1. Arrives at school promptly and stays until such time as necessary responsibilities are completed
  2. Develops a warm rapport with students and a positive, secure, neat and attractive classroom environment; trains students in habits and routines which are part of the FCS philosophy; maintains excellent student conduct and attention
  3. Becomes very familiar with yearly curriculum objectives and participates actively in curriculum writing and revising
  4. Develops professionally by exploring and being willing to implement new instructional techniques and curriculum
  5. Uses Curriculum Trak software to prepare lesson plans to ensure that the objectives of the curriculum are being met
  6. Keeps attendance records, records grades according to department standards, and records of other monies from special projects if applicable
  7. Fosters a spirit of patriotism and respect by conducting daily pledges
  8. Places God's Word in a central position in daily instruction, integrating its principles throughout the day
  9. Prays regularly for each child and presents the Gospel message and other biblical instruction with sensitivity and love; faithfully follows the philosophy and Bible guidelines of the school
  10. Individualizes instruction and student assessment to meet the needs of both weaker and stronger students in cooperation with Resource Center and fellow teachers
  11. Learns and applies educationally relevant technology skills for teaching, learning, and administrative tasks with support from the FCS technology department
  12. Enriches basic curriculum with field trips, creative assignments, and library resources
  13. Checks student work and sends it home on a regular basis
  14. Maintains close, cooperative relationship with parents, communicating frequently with parents and responding to parent emails within 24 hours
  15. Attends weekly faculty meetings, Prayer 'N' Share at least one time weekly, and evening activities of the school as directed; participates in professional development
  16. Is prompt and faithful with supervision duty on a regularly scheduled basis
  17. Dresses professionally and modestly, following the Staff Dress Code
  18. Seeks an awareness of the total school vision and serves willingly in special areas which enhance the overall effectiveness of the ministry
