Mammography Technologist


Compensation: $31 to $45 depending on years of experience



Position Overview

The Mammography Technologist performs high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography procedures under the supervision of radiologists and the Lead Mammography Technologist. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and compassion for patients during a potentially stressful exam. The technologist ensures accurate imaging, maintains compliance with safety standards, and supports ongoing quality improvement within the department.


Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized mammography exams, including pre-surgical lesion localization
  • Operate mammography and ancillary imaging equipment, ensuring proper function and safety
  • Position patients accurately to produce optimal images while minimizing repeats
  • Label and document images and clinical data accurately
  • Prepare exam rooms, supplies, and patients for procedures, following sterile technique when required
  • Provide patients with preparation instructions and answer questions with professionalism and compassion
  • Assist radiologists with special procedures, monitoring patients throughout exams
  • Maintain compliance with MQSA, ACR, and departmental quality standards
  • Administer medications and follow all hospital policies for patient safety


Requirements

  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Minimum of 6 months diagnostic radiology experience (training in mammography required before independent practice)
  • Licensed Radiographer in the State of Wisconsin
  • ARRT certification in Diagnostic Radiology (R.T.R.)
  • ARRT certification in Mammography (R.T.R. (M)) required, or registry eligible (must pass within 12 months of training)
  • Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 6 weeks of hire)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care
