Job description

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Senior Accountant with a background in Public Accounting to join our Accounting team!

This role will be responsible for overseeing the entry and review of transactions. Key responsibilities include journal entries, reconciliations, material batches, analysis, and accounting projects, while collaborating with other departments throughout CPI including Operations, Sales and the Finance teams.

Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, this position is vital for our monthly close process. The Senior Accountant will handle various month-end responsibilities, including processing journal entries for rebates, commissions, inventory and revenue, which will require detailed research and precise calculations.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will include supporting inventory management and job-related tasks, such as conducting reviews for inventory obsolescence, analyzing sales, costs, and margins, and facilitating job closure processes. You will also be tasked with calculating and preparing general journal entries for rebates, commissions, inventory and revenue, which will necessitate thorough research and precise calculations.

Additionally, you will reconcile balance sheet accounts each month, investigating and resolving any discrepancies that arise. It is essential to uphold compliance with company policies and procedures, including the requirements set forth by Sarbanes-Oxley for internal controls. Qualifications
  • Experience with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the COSO internal control framework.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Ability to focus on transaction processing with strong attention to detail.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in accounting and financial analysis, is essential.
  • You should have 2-3 years of experience in accounting, specifically in subledger or general ledger accounting.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including sumif, lookup functions, and pivot tables, is a must.

Physical Demands:

  • This position requires; ability to work from home, reliable high-speed internet access (hotspot not acceptable), dedicated distraction-free home work environment.
  • Hours are minimum 40 hours per week during company's regular business hours however evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand;
  • Work is in a typical office environment; prolonged sitting required (1-2 hours at a time);
  • Position may require minimal travel by car and/or plane
