Job description

Turn transportation science into stories people can use. The Strategic Communication Outreach Specialist leads outreach and marketing for FHWA research, agency initiatives, and publications. You'll build audience-focused campaigns across print, web, email, social media, and events - then use reader data to sharpen what comes next. Working with researchers, engineers, editors, and authors, you'll translate highway and surface transportation findings, methods, data, and policy context into clear content for technical and public audiences.What You'll Do
  • Shape and manage integrated campaigns that grow magazine subscriptions and digital readership.
  • Write and edit content, create graphics, and support feature-story promotion, conferences, and tradeshows.
  • Conduct reader research, track campaign performance, and refine outreach based on results.
Requirements
  • 6-10 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic communications, digital marketing, and public affairs.
  • Demonstrated success growing subscriptions or readership through social media and other channels.
  • Federal experience and knowledge of highway or surface transportation research preferred.
  • Must be located in the DC Metro area
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass a Public Trust Clearance and Background Check
Education
Bachelor's or master's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a closely related field.
