Manufacturing Machine Operator II
Shift - 2nd shift, 3PM - 11PM
Description of Responsibility: Setup, run, train, and troubleshoot all Post-Coat Wetblast manual and automated machines. Load and unload carbide inserts into automated wetblast machine. Confirm incoming inserts and count. Setup orders utilizing the appropriate program, process, and trays. Run in either automated or manual mode. Must be interactive with automation and machine by observing and verifying the inserts are processed to standard. Scope inserts to verify visual characteristics. Determine success of blast based on visual appearance. Adjust pressures and times on blaster machine as needed. Monitor machine processes as needed. Scan in correct information. Perform CLI's and preventative maintenance during shift, weekly and monthly according to guidelines.
Description of Accountability: Commitment to working safely and understand all safety procedures. Deviations in routine are handled according to operating procedures and/or work instructions. Operator responsible for following inspection control plan, assuring product is processed according to proper routings, specifications and the quantity and style are correct. Work to meet daily departmental production goals. Must be reliable and dependable. Communicate safety, quality and product issues with supervisor, team members and across shifts.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to do basic math. Ability to read and understand defect criteria, insert identification, blueprints, routings, and operating procedures. Ability to use a personal computer and various software such as SAP MII, locate information in QMS, and on the Kennametal Intranet for ISO Procedures, and work instructions. Is able to handle inserts with fingers without chipping. Understand proper use of 30X Microscope. Communicate with set-up persons, inspectors, supervisors, and managers. Proficiency reached in eight (8) weeks or less. Complete classes in insert identification in six (6) months or less.
Work Environment: Environment with controlled temperatures and dust/mist collection systems. Safety glasses with side-shields required. Safety shoes required. Gloves, cut resistant gloves when necessary.
Physical Demands: Approximately eight hours standing with two break opportunities per eight-hour work period. Intermittent walking, reaching, sitting, and bending. Lifting insert trays weighing no more than thirty-three (33) pounds.
Problem Solving: Run orders by due date. Follow control plan. Assignments and instructions communicated orally and carried out by standing guidelines. Routine problems solved by operator using learned knowledge of insert style, production processes and machine familiarity. Recurring problems and decisions receive supervisor attention.
