Evening Home Tester Club Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Distinguishing Characteristics:

This is a classified position that reports to the Probation Officer III. Incumbents perform duties under general supervision and do not have direct supervisory responsibilities for other employees.

Preferred Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities:

• Possess knowledge and understanding of:
  The criminal justice system and community resources.

• Diversion, Standard and Juvenile and/or Adult Intensive Probation and community supervision.

• Social and community corrections casework.

• Principles of adolescent and general human behavior; and evidence-based practices in community corrections.

Important Notice Regarding Multiple Applications:

Once a candidate formally accepts a job offer with Superior Court, Juvenile Court, or Justice Court (Tucson and Ajo), all other active applications within these courts will be inactivated.

The successful candidate must have, or will be,requiredto successfully pass:

• Complete background/reference checks, interviews, polygraph and/or drug testing, and pre- employment psychological examinations.

• Must successfully complete 40-hour Defensive Tactics Training Academy as soon as practical, but no later than 120 days from the date of employment [see ACJA 6-107(G)].

• Mustdemonstrate, byproficiencytesting, competency and understanding of the physical and verbal techniques and tactics presented at the Defensive Tactics Training Academy.

• Must successfully complete eight (8) hours of defensive tactics refresher training on an annual basis.

• Mustmaintaincertificate of successful completion of defensive tactics training.

• Must successfully complete the Probation Certification Academy and Intensive Probation Institute, if assigned,within the first twelve (12) months of employment [see ACJA 6- 107(F)].

• Mustsubmitto a medical examination required by Corrections Officer Retirement Plan.

• Must have the ability tooperatea variety of equipment necessary to perform job duties such as motor vehicles, computers, telephones, radios, handcuffs, bodyarmorand other equipment depending on case assignments.

• Mustpossess:

• Independent body mobility to stand, walk,bendand sit for prolonged periods of time and/ or drive a vehicle.

• The manual dexterity necessary to reach, grasp, handwrite, and use a computer.

• Vision sufficient to see and read.

• Hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person and over the phone.

• The ability to withstand varying weather temperatures.

• The ability to lift, drag,pushand carry items of various weight.

• Must have skills in the areas of:

• Self-control, patience, initiative, courtesy,tactand diplomacyin order tomaintaineffective relationships with a diverse population.

• Interviewing, motivating, and interpersonal relationships.

• Time management and organization with the ability to apply principles and methods of correctional casework.

• Critical analysis of individuals and situationsin order toproblem solve and make sound decisions.

• Effective oral and written communication.

Theprobation officerpost-offerbackground check process isoutlinedbelow:

• Before an applicant can begin service, the juvenile court must execute a rigorous character and fitness investigation mandated by ACJA 6-106(H): 8-203, A.R.S. 12-251 and Part 6, Chapter 1, Section 6-106 of the Arizona Code of Judicial Administration):

  Fingerprint & Criminal History: Run through the Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

  Motor Vehicle Record (MVD): A complete driving history check in Arizona and any prior state of residence.

  Department of Child Safety (DCS): A search of the DCS Central Registry for historical allegations of child abuse or neglect.

  Drug Screening: Mandatory urinalysis testing for illegal substances, including dangerous narcotics and cannabis.

  Psychological & Physical Evaluations: Passing a pre-employment psychological examination and a physical fitness certification for duty.

  Health Testing:A conditional offer of employmentwill includemandatorypost-offer tuberculosis screening to confirm candidates are freefrominfectiousTuberculosis (TB).

  
  *The physical certification is determined by a physician in a medical office setting.
  New hire drug tests for the use of the following drugs, or classes of drugs:

  
  a. Cocaine;
  b. Opiates;
  c. Amphetamines/Methamphetamine;
  d. Ecstasy (MDMA);
  e. Oxycodone;
  f. Heroin;
