First Officer – Corporate Aviation

Cummins Inc. | Columbus, Indiana

The Opportunity

Cummins Inc. is seeking a talented and highly professional First Officer to join its Corporate Aviation team in Columbus, Indiana.

As a Cummins First Officer, you will help safely and efficiently transport company leaders, employees, and guests in support of Cummins' global business operations. You will work closely with the Captain and the broader Aviation team to ensure each mission is completed safely, professionally, and in accordance with all regulatory and company requirements.

This position offers the resources and stability of a Fortune 500 company combined with the teamwork, camaraderie, and influence of a close-knit corporate flight department.

How You Will Make an Impact

In this role, you will:

  • Support safe and efficient flight operations by performing assigned flight duties, partnering closely with the Captain, and contributing to the successful completion of each mission.

  • Maintain the highest standards of regulatory and operational compliance by following applicable aviation regulations, company policies, standard operating procedures, and aircraft limitations.

  • Support sound operational decision-making by evaluating weather, routing, airport conditions, aircraft performance, and other factors affecting each flight.

  • Ensure mission readiness by reviewing flight plans, fuel requirements, weight-and-balance calculations, aircraft performance data, airport information, and applicable checklists.

  • Monitor changing conditions throughout each mission and assist with timely, well-informed operational adjustments.

  • Deliver an exceptional passenger experience by ensuring the aircraft is safe, comfortable, properly prepared, and appropriately stocked.

  • Represent Cummins with professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, and a customer-focused approach.

  • Participate in aircraft-related ground duties, training, safety activities, and other departmental responsibilities.

  • Contribute beyond the flight deck by supporting safety programs, hiring initiatives, committees, special projects, and continuous-improvement efforts across the Aviation department.

Why Join Cummins Aviation?

Cummins Aviation has supported the company's business operations for more than 70 years. Our pilots are trusted professionals who help connect Cummins employees, customers, manufacturing facilities, and business operations throughout the United States and around the world.

Members of the Aviation team benefit from:

  • Paid type rating on assigned aircraft. The initial assignment is slated for the G280, pending company need.

  • Opportunities to operate modern business aircraft on domestic and international missions

  • A stable corporate aviation environment

  • A professional, safety-focused operating culture

  • A close-knit team in which pilots contribute beyond their flying responsibilities

  • Direct support of senior leadership and critical business operations

  • Access to the benefits, resources, and career opportunities of a global Fortune 500 company

  • A department that values sound judgment, teamwork, operational excellence, and continuous improvement

The Cummins Aviation team combines the professionalism and resources of a major global corporation with the camaraderie and influence of a relatively small flight department—an uncommon and rewarding combination in corporate aviation.
