DEPARTMENT: Facilities Operations
JOB TITLE: Evening Custodial Representative
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Evening Custodial Manager
JOB GOAL: The Evening Custodial Representative is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment within assigned facilities. This position performs routine cleaning, sanitation, and light maintenance tasks during evening hours to ensure that buildings are ready for use the following day. The role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Child Abuse Clearance; Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Clearance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cleaning & Sanitation
  • Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas
  • Restrooms: Use germicidal detergent to clean all toilets and urinals, inside and outside including seats; clean and polish all flush meters, faucets and all exposed piping; Clean all wash basins/sinks, waterless urinals and wipe dry; clean and polish all basin fixtures and exposed pipes underneath; Clean all mirrors, shelves under mirrors, and other shelves or brackets; Sanitize restroom floors using a germicidal detergent; Clean partitions, doors, and wall areas, as needed; Unclog toilets, urinals, and sinks as needed; Fill all paper and fill or replace soap dispensers; Wipe clean all dispensers and trash receptacles
  • Kitchen/Break Room Areas: Damp wipe counters and exterior of cabinets; Damp wipe table tops and chairs; Empty trash containers and remove trash to designated area; Damp wipe exterior and interior of microwave; Damp wipe exterior of refrigerator; Clean and sanitize sinks; Collect all recyclable materials and remove to designated area; Clean microwave and coffee pot/stations; Clean outside break/eating areas during nice weather
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax/buffer floors as needed or as scheduled
  • Clean entrance glass, interior glass, and internal window glass, remove fingerprints and smudges
  • Pour water in basement drains as needed
  • Gather and empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces (e.g., desks, door handles, light switches, common areas)
  • Restock conference room, kitchen, and restroom supplies (paper products, soap, etc.)
  • Clean lights, windows, tables, desks, and any other furniture
  • Shut off lights, lock doors, secure windows, lock buildings/doors, following end of shift procedures
  • Perform routine inspections of assigned areas to identify cleanliness or maintenance issues and report accordingly
  • Performance regularly scheduled custodial services as requested based on monthly, semi-annual, annual, or as directed
  • Report maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly to supervisor
  • Return conference or event rooms back to standard layouts as requested
  • Follow all safety procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Maintain compliance with applicable health, safety, and workplace regulations
  • Ensure building security by locking doors, securing windows, and following end-of-shift procedures
  • Operate custodial equipment such as floor machines, buffers, and vacuums
  • Maintain cleaning equipment in good working order.
  • Monitor supply levels and notify supervisor when restocking is needed
  • Work cooperatively with other custodial staff and facilities personnel
  • Communicate effectively regarding completed work, issues, or special requests
  • Respond to urgent cleaning needs or spills in a timely manner
  • Requirement to work on-site five days per week and on inclement weather days
  • Fosters a positive work culture that encourages collaboration, creativity, and accountability
  • Demonstrated professional behavior, including discretion, good judgment and integrity
  • Comply with internal processes and procedures
  • Work collaboratively with others in a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Perform any additional duties deemed necessary by the Evening Custodial Manager or Facilities Operations Manager-Project Manager
