Job description

Job Title: PRN Endo Tech

General Summary of Duties:

  • Prior to procedures, assembles equipment and supplies needed. This includes setting up instruments, preparing procedure rooms, etc.
  • Assists physicians with Endoscopy procedures
  • Assists with obtaining, labeling, and delivering biopsies or labs with the RN or MD
  • Helps maintain, order, and stock supplies for Endoscopy
  • Ensures specialized equipment and instruments are maintained. Coordinates a regular maintenance program. Troubleshoots minor problems with equipment. Notifies clinical engineering when necessary for repair.
  • Answers telephone, answers questions concerning procedures as appropriate, and relays messages in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
  • May be expected to waste medications per appropriate guidelines and processes.
  • May be expected to do IV insertions (if Tech has successfully completed an IV insertion course).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualification:

  • Endoscopy Tech experience

INTERRELATIONSHIPS:

Works effectively with members of the health care team, administrative personnel, and maintains a cooperative working relationship intra-departmentally and inter-departmentally.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:  Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.   On feet most of the day.  Frequent lifting, stretching and other physical exertion during positioning of patients and moving equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:  Exposed to patients' conditions and some unpleasant sights, smells and contagious diseases.   Normal busy office environment with much telephone work. Occasional evening or weekend work.
