Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)

Location: Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC), Fort Hood, TX

CentralCare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to provide full-time services at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC), Fort Cavazos, TX. This is an excellent opportunity to support our military service members and their families as a federal civilian contractor.

Position Details

  • Base Pay: $55/hr
  • New Contract H&W Rate: $5.03/hr
  • Shift Differentials:
    • Weekday Evening: + $1 ($56/hr)
    • Weekday Night: + $2 ($57/hr)
    • Weekend Day: + $2 ($57/hr)
    • Weekend Evening: + $3 ($58/hr)
    • Weekend Night: + $5 ($60/hr)
  • Benefits: Health & malpractice coverage, 401(k) eligibility
  • Availability: Full-Time or PRN if local
  • Shift: Nights – This facility is a 24-hour facility and there are 12-hour shifts within the schedule period. Staff must be available to work all shifts available.

Scheduling:

  • Government provides schedules 2 months in advance
  • PRN staff are required to be available to work all holidays
  • PRN staff must work a minimum of 24 hours/month
  • Contract Length: 1 year preferred (with extension option)
  • Credentialing Timeline: Estimated 45–60 days
  • Mission Essential: Required to report during inclement weather, natural disasters, or emergencies

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care to patients in CRDAMC’s Emergency Department
  • Ensure patient safety and continuity of care during all assigned shifts
  • Adhere to federal, hospital, and ER-specific protocols for emergency care delivery
  • Accurately sign in/out using Government timekeeping systems
  • Remain on duty until relieved by a qualified replacement
  • Participate in required shift reports, morning/evening huddles, rounds, and team meetings

Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted RN license (any U.S. state or territory accepted)
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse with at least 2 years of experience within the last three years in an intensive care unit with four or more beds as a registered nurse.
  • Must have at least 6+ months of experience in Level III Trauma Center or above.
  • U.S. Citizenship (required for Department of Defense system access)
  • Active Certifications: BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC (Within 6 months of employment)
  • Strong critical thinking and emergency triage skills
  • Must meet immunization, background, and health requirements per federal contract standards
