POSITION JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Evening School Social Worker
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1
RATE OF PAY: $40 PER HOUR
HOURS: 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
REPORTS TO: Deputy Superintendent for School Improvement
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience or Training
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker endorsement
  • Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university
  • Previous experience working with high school students

Desired Experience or Training
  • Previous high school experience
  • Social-emotional intervention experience

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
PLANNING AND PREPARATION
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of school social work theory, practices, and techniques.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of child and adolescent development.
  3. Establish goals for social work services appropriate to the setting and the students served.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal regulations and resources, both within and beyond the school and district.
  5. Plan social work services that are integrated with the regular school program, including crisis prevention, intervention, and response.
  6. Develop methods to evaluate services and communicate relevant findings.

  1. Create an environment of respect and rapport.

DELIVERY OF SERVICE
  1. Assess student social-emotional, behavioral, and educational needs.
  2. Assist students, families, teachers, and other school personnel in addressing barriers that may impact student academic success.
  3. Provide appropriate social-emotional interventions and support to students individually and in small-group settings.
  4. Broker and coordinate school and community resources to meet student needs.
  5. Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to student needs.
