Job description

The Golden Parks and Recreation Department is a CAPRA Accredited Parks and Recreation Department and most recently received the Gold Medal Award from the National Recreation & Parks Association (NRPA). Supervises adult and youth athletic programs.

Provides leadership and supervision of facilities, fields, and activities to participants as assigned. JOB SUMMARY Oversees officials and scorekeepers. Monitors league and tournament play.

Resolves problems and conflicts that arise during programs. Supervises facility and participants by enforcing program and building rules, regulations, and procedures. Ensures facilities and fields are left in a secure condition by closing and locking all gates, windows, doors, and setting alarms.

Assist with equipment pick up at the end of the evening. Assist in maintenance or cleaning of the playing and surrounding area. Responds to participants and general public using courteous and effective communication to provide information and resolve conflicts as necessary.

Sets up facilities as needed. Keeps accurate records of scores and various reports. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises scorekeepers and officials during assigned shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire. High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) preferred; minimum three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Background in the sport of baseball, softball or basketball.

General knowledge of rules and methods for applicable sport. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS CPR and first aid certification preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to effectively communicate with the public and pass along standings and rulings. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to carry out assigned tasks proficiently. Good conflict resolution skills. MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED Baseball, softball, or basketball playing equipment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
