Associate assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed. The Sonoma County Junior College District does not offer 'remote only' assignments

Key Duties and Responsibilities Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include evening, weekend, online or hybrid and/or off-campus assignments. Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours. Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.

Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise. Associate faculty focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services. Associate faculty are typically not required to participate in District or department service such as committee work, evaluations, student learning outcomes assessment, and hiring committees, but may be asked to perform these services for additional compensation.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: The Art Department is the fifth largest instructional department at Santa Rosa Junior College, with seven full-time and numerous Associate Faculty teaching on two campuses and several off-campus locations. Facilities include an art history lecture room and visual resources library, studios for painting, drawing, graphic design, printmaking, photography, ceramics and sculpture. Our primary intention is to foster and develop the creative thinking, visual literacy and problem-solving skills considered necessary for students to function effectively in the future, whatever their discipline.

Master's in fine arts, art, or art history OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in humanities OR the equivalent (NOTE: "Master's in fine arts" as used here refers to any master's degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; and also art education and art therapy. Instructor must submit a portfolio (photos only) of personal and student work in Printmaking and a syllabus which follows the Title V Course Outline of Record. Instructor's portfolio of work must demonstrate expertise in the specific subject matter addressed in each respective course based on its current Course Outline of Record to be considered to teach that course. Supplemental Question: Examples of personal and student work as follows: 10-20 examples of your recent art work and 10-20 examples of recent student work.
