The Role

Eastman is a pioneer in commercial-scale molecular recycling, producing virgin-quality polymer resins for durable goods, cosmetic packaging, medical devices, and food-contact applications. We are seeking for our Specialty Plastics BU an accomplished Application Development & Technical Service Engineer to lead technical engagement in Western Europe, collaborating with leading brands, converters, and retailers to advance circular-economy solutions.

Responsibilities
    • Translate brand and converter requirements into robust Critical-To-Quality (CTQ) parameters, guiding material selection, mold design, and process optimization.
    • Lead design-for-manufacturability workshops—particularly injection-molding trials—and resolve complex processing challenges.
    • Represent Eastman at industry conferences, standards committees, and technical panels, delivering presentations that influence best practices.
    • Capture and document customer insights, identify unmet needs, and partner with R&D to develop innovative, sustainable products.
    • Develop and conduct advanced technical training, webinars, and workshops for customers, distributors, and internal teams.
    • Monitor competitive materials, emerging processing technologies, and regulatory trends to uncover new application opportunities.
    • Author technical marketing collateral, whitepapers, and case studies tailored to expert audiences across the value chain.
    • Keep up to date with market, application and processing technology developments including competitive material and competing technology developments
    • Build up external relationships with universities and research institutes

Distinguishing Qualifications & Achievements

You are recognized in the plastics industry for either technical excellence or exceptional customer engagement, demonstrated by one or more of the following:

Technical Leadership

  • Invited speaker or panelist at leading international conferences.
  • Peer-reviewed publications or industry-recognized technical articles.
  • Leadership roles in industry bodies or direct influence on polymer processing standards.

Customer & Value-Chain Engagement

  • High-visibility external workshops, webinars, or webinars that converted prospects into strategic customers.
  • Proven track record of translating brand objectives into measurable process improvements and commercial success.
  • Established relationships with major brands, converters, and retailers—able to align stakeholders around shared CTQs.
Qualifications
    • PhD in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline or Master in Plastics
    • ≥ 10 years of industrial experience in plastic processing technologies—expert in injection molding; additional skills in extrusion, blow molding, film casting, or thermoforming are highly valued.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and French (mandatory) other European languages welcome.
    • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
