What's the role?

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager for the Recommendations team, focused on helping shoppers discover more of what Etsy has to offer them.

This role leads a squad responsible for promoted and organic recommendations that help shoppers find the perfect products to complete their mission.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director of Product, Recommendations.

The Recommendations team at Etsy is responsible for developing end to end solutions that connect buyers with the right products at the right time. We help buyers explore options based on their current needs and discover more they'll love on Etsy!

Product Managers at Etsy are full members of their teams, working side by side with engineers (full-stack and machine learning), applied scientists, and analysts to reason about system behavior, tradeoffs, and impact.
PMs do not hand work over a wall; instead, they are in continuous conversation with their teams to explore problems, test ideas, and refine solutions together.
The work is collaborative, iterative, and grounded in learning from real customer and system behavior.

• Collaborate across functions to develop a product strategy and roadmap that addresses high upside customer problems

• Drive, socialize, and align teammates and leaders on key product decisions that shape the future of discovery on Etsy

• Partner with teams across Recommendations and beyond to build end to end solutions that deliver impact to our customers and the business

• Contribute to team culture, health, and success by identifying, advocating for, and taking action on opportunities to help teammates and the border team grow and thrive

• Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

• 5+ years of Product Management or comparable experience.

• Customer centric - have a deep desire to learn about and serve our customers and actively take steps to improve our understanding of and empathy for them

• Outcomes focused - embrace the need to deliver meaningful impact to our customers which in turn drives growth of the business, and have established a track record of doing so

• Ownership - operate with a sense of urgency to create clarity from ambiguity and feel empowered to fix what's broken

You support cross-functional partners in contributing their outstanding expertise, optimize for broader team and company outcomes over your immediate team, and embrace that team success paves the path for individual success

• Analytical - are highly proficient in partnering with Research, Analytics, and other functions to acquire and leverage insights to identify problems, prioritize, and shape hypotheses

• Growth mindset - are curious and committed to learning. You also proactively give and embrace receiving the gift of feedback

• ML/AI - you have meaningful experience with machine learning retrieval and/or ranking systems. Experience in recommendations or search is strongly preferred

Compensation & Benefits

In addition to salary, you'll be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family. Base salary is determined by your location, skills, and experience.

Etsy uses two geographic pay zones to reflect the labor markets where we compete for talent: one called Geo-1, covering the New York City metropolitan area, San Francisco Bay Area, and Seattle metropolitan area, and one called Geo-2, covering all other U.S. locations. Salary ranges for this role vary by zone and are listed below.

Location

We prioritize candidates based within commutable distance of Etsy's Brooklyn Office. Depending on proximity, we ask team members to come in once or twice per week. Remote candidates outside commutable distance may be considered on a case-by-case basis, with the expectation of occasional travel to the office.
