Data Engineer Epic ETL
Full Time

The Data Engineer is responsible for delivering data warehouse, analytics solutions by ingesting, integrating, and curating data from Epic and non-Epic source systems. This role supports ETL development, data modeling, and solution delivery using Epic reporting analytics tools such as Clarity, Caboodle, and Cogito to enable enterprise reporting and analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver data warehouse and analytics solutions through data ingestion, integration, transformation, and curation of healthcare data
Design, develop, and support ETL processes using Epic tools, including Clarity ETL, Caboodle ETL, and Cogito components
Develop custom imports and integration processes to move Epic and non-Epic data into Caboodle and related enterprise data warehouse environments
Apply strong relational database expertise, including advanced SQL, complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning
Partner with architecture, reporting, and business teams to design and implement scalable data solutions aligned with enterprise standards
Work with business users to gather requirements and recommend analytical and integration solutions that meet reporting and operational needs
Ensure data models, ETL workflows, and database structures are consistent with approved data architecture standards.
Evaluate data quality, troubleshoot ETL issues, and communicate findings in a clear and concise manner
Document technical designs, ETL workflows, programming changes, and system maintenance procedures
Support source-to-target mapping, data profiling, change data capture, and validation of data pipelines
Skills & Experience
Experience in data engineering, ETL development, or data warehousing within a healthcare environment
Hands-on experience creating DMCs in Epic data platforms such as Clarity & Caboodle databases
Strong SQL and relational database skills, including stored procedures and query optimization
Experience integrating non-Epic data into Caboodle or enterprise analytics platforms
Experience with ETL workflows, data validation, and performance tuning
Familiarity with healthcare reporting, enterprise analytics, and operational data workflows
Healthcare Background preferred; Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills
Epic certifications in Clarity Data Model, Caboodle Data Model, or Caboodle Development (preferred)
Ability to work independently with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions
