We're looking for a Senior Transmission Engineer who enjoys digging into the details and taking pride in building something that lasts. In this role, you'll lead transmission design work from the early ideas all the way through to construction and completion. You'll help shape projects that keep our system reliable today while preparing it for the future.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support, guidance and expertise for full project cycle, including but not limited to: system planning, routing & siting, stakeholder engagement, regulatory, estimating, engineering & design, procurement, scheduling, construction, commissioning and asset management.

  • Manage all technical aspects of transmission line design projects, including structural design and analysis, foundation design and overhead system design. Projects will cover new lines, rebuild/upgrade of existing lines, relocation of lines, and emergency response.

  • Conduct engineering design and analysis for all aspects of transmission line design that include but not limited to survey/LiDAR data processing, structure/conductor/insulator optimization, DRD/loading tree design, PLS CADD/Pole/Tower/ Caisson analysis, construction coordination and supervision etc

  • Work with other groups as a subject matter expert for transmission line projects. Provide input to Asset Management, System Planning, Regulatory, Standards, Office of the Chief Engineer, and any other groups within ENMAX requiring technical expertise in Transmission projects.

  • Generate and review all engineering/technical documents project related including but not limited to- NID document, functional specification, material/construction specification, Project scope, construction/design scope of work, bill of material, tender package etc.

  • Oversee the scope and ensure the quality of engineering deliverables provided by internal and external engineering consultants to meet the needs of the project. Ensure all applicable engineering, industry and ENMAX Corporation standards, codes, regulations and public safety are applied in designs and during review.

  • Identify, explore and propose solutions and improvements to technical practices, components, and processes for team lead and manager review.

  • Work with internal and external customers and technical experts to determine the complete project scope for complex projects, including identifying all required technical deliverables, interdependencies, and any risks that are technical in nature.

  • Provide guidance to stakeholders reviewing construction Requests for Information and consult with required parties and provide responses in the form of Field Instructions, or via direct construction support on site.

  • Ensure the safety of our staff, contractors, and the public is held as paramount in everything we do.

Education Required:

  • P.Eng status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Structural Engineering is preferred

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in the areas of transmission line design

  • Strong proficiency with PLS CADD/POLE/TOWER/CAISSON is required

  • HV underground line (138kV+) experience will be asset

  • Utility work experience will be asset

  • Experience with regulatory applications filings will be an asset

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement discussions will be an asset
