Director of Estimating Location: Houston, TX / Texas Working Arrangement: Hybrid Sector: Infrastructure / Construction / PMCM We are supporting an established project and construction management consultancy looking to appoint a Director of Estimating to lead and develop its estimating capability across Texas. This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for estimating delivery, QA/QC, team leadership, client engagement and the continued growth of the estimating function . The successful individual will be a highly experienced estimator who can provide technical leadership across complex capital projects while remaining close enough to delivery to review, challenge and, where required, produce estimates directly. The Role You will be responsible for: Leading the estimating function across projects and programs throughout Texas. Providing technical leadership across conceptual, schematic, design development and detailed cost estimates . Reviewing and QA/QC'ing estimates before submission to clients. Developing cost plans, budgets, estimates and cost models across multiple stages of project delivery. Establishing and maintaining estimating standards, processes, templates and best practices. Leading, mentoring and developing a team of estimators and cost professionals. Reviewing assumptions, quantities, unit rates, escalation, contingencies and market conditions. Supporting major pursuits, proposals and fee estimates from an estimating perspective. Working directly with clients, owners, designers, contractors and project teams to communicate and defend estimates. Providing independent cost advice and identifying risks, opportunities and value-engineering options. Supporting staffing, recruitment and resource planning as the estimating group continues to grow. Maintaining a strong understanding of construction pricing, labor, materials and market conditions across Texas. Supporting senior leadership in expanding the company's estimating and project controls offering. What We Are Looking For We are particularly interested in individuals with: Significant experience in construction cost estimating and cost management . Experience leading or overseeing an estimating team or function. Strong experience producing and reviewing conceptual and detailed estimates . The ability to independently develop a complete estimate and QA/QC the work of others. Experience working within a consultancy, PMCM, project controls or owner's representative environment . Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, quantities, unit rates and cost drivers. Experience working across major capital projects such as infrastructure, data centers, commercial buildings, education, aviation, transportation or public-sector facilities . Strong client-facing skills and the ability to present and defend estimates to senior stakeholders. Experience developing junior and senior estimating professionals. Strong knowledge of the Texas construction market would be advantageous. This opportunity could suit an experienced Estimating Director, Director of Cost Management, Chief Estimator, Senior Estimating Manager, Cost Director or Senior Cost Manager looking to take ownership of an established estimating function.
