Job description

Fit Recruiting is seeking an experienced Estimator for a well-established manufacturing company on the Eastern Shore. This full-time position offers a salary range of $50K - $75K, depending on experience plus company growth and benefits.


The ideal candidate will have experience estimating in a manufacturing, fabrication, or construction environment and be comfortable working from engineering drawings, specifications, and project scopes to develop accurate and competitive quotes.


Duties:

  • Develop detailed cost estimates and pricing for custom-fabricated and standard products.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, RFQs, and project descriptions to determine scope and requirements.
  • Analyze material, labor, and production requirements to develop accurate and competitive quotes.
  • Maintain and update cost data, pricing files, and estimating records using Excel and an ERP system.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Production to clarify project requirements and confirm feasibility and lead times.
  • Review RFQs for completeness and follow up with customers or internal teams to obtain missing information.
  • Track quote-to-order conversion and assist with improving estimating accuracy and processes.
  • Support special pricing requests, bid packages, and project-based estimates as needed.
  • Manage multiple quotes and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams to ensure estimates are complete and timely.


Requirements:

  • 3โ€“5+ years of experience as an Estimator in a manufacturing, fabrication, or construction environment.
  • Experience estimating from engineering drawings, specifications, or scopes of work.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP-based estimating or costing systems; Prophet 21 (P21) experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication, electrical/instrumentation support products, or industrial construction is a plus.
