    Position Title: Esports Facilitator - Instructional Technology Facilitator

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Range:  $70,300 - $85,300

Immediate Supervisor: Director of Innovation and Strategy

Office Location: University View Academy

Work Schedule: This position will be on-site 3-5 days per week

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Esports Facilitator is responsible for working collaboratively with the Instructional Technology and Innovation and Strategy teams to create, manage, and grow an esports program at UVA. The Esports Facilitator will work in accordance with all applicable laws, guidelines, and UVA policies. In addition, the Facilitator attends meetings, collaborates with colleagues on projects, and participates in professional development training and related workshops. The Facilitator will work in accordance with all applicable laws, guidelines, and UVA policies.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the school's K–12 esports program aligned with district goals and student engagement initiatives.
  • Recruit, coach, and mentor student esports teams while fostering teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, and digital citizenship.
  • Coordinate and attend all events that occur within the esports program, both in and out of the Lynx Den.
  • Coordinate practice schedules, competitions, tournaments, and league participation.
  • Supervise students during practices, competitions, and esports-related events.
  • Develop practice plans that improve game strategy, communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
  • Teach and reinforce responsible online behavior, cybersecurity awareness, and positive digital citizenship.
  • Organize school-wide esports events, community tournaments, showcases, and STEM outreach activities.
  • Manage and maintain esports equipment, gaming computers, consoles, and peripherals.
  • Maintain inventory of esports equipment and recommend technology upgrades and purchases.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, league regulations, copyright, and software licensing requirements.
  • Configure and troubleshoot gaming hardware, software, streaming platforms, and tournament systems.
  • Maintain esports facilities and ensure equipment is secure, organized, and operating efficiently.
  • Monitor student academic eligibility and attendance requirements for participation.
  • Ensure the Lynx Den is set up correctly before events.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, teachers, and administrators to support student success both academically and competitively.
  • Communicates regularly with key stakeholders regarding progress or updates to the Esports program.
  • Communicate events and activities to appropriate departments so that students and faculty are notified and can attend if desired (including creating or requesting the creation of promotional materials to highlight upcoming opportunities).
  • Build partnerships with colleges, universities, community organizations, and industry partners to expand student opportunities.
  • Collect and analyze participation data, student outcomes, and program metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • May be required to flex time by working in-person events outside of regular UVA hours
  • Travels occasionally to support statewide mandated test administration and to participate in student-sponsored events.
