Job description

About the Role: Embedded Engineer

We are seeking a detail-oriented Embedded Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance embedded systems, firmware, and real-time software. In this role, you will act as the vital link between our hardware engineering teams, software development groups, and product management partners, ensuring that all microcontrollers, board support packages, and firmware systems are engineered with maximum efficiency, scalability, and adherence to strict safety and security standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Firmware & Software Development: Design, write, test, and maintain low-level C/C++ code for microcontrollers, microprocessors, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Hardware-Software Integration: Board bring-up, debugging hardware interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet), and working closely with hardware engineers to validate PCB designs.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Perform system-level validation, static analysis, unit testing, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation to ensure high reliability.
  • Risk & Performance Optimization: Monitor execution bottlenecks, memory constraints, and power consumption; optimize system performance for resource-constrained environments.
  • Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry-specific safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or medical/aerospace standards where applicable) and maintain thorough technical documentation.
  • Technical Liaison: Serve as a key point of contact for component vendors, toolchain providers, and cross-functional engineering teams during design reviews and technical audits.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related field (Required).
  • Experience: 0–5 years of experience in embedded software development, firmware engineering, or hardware-software integration.
  • Technical Skills (Required):
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems.
  • Experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks) or bare-metal embedded development.
  • Hands-on experience with microcontroller architectures (ARM Cortex-M/A, RISC-V, ESP32, STM32, PIC, etc.).
  • Familiarity with hardware communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB) and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Linux driver development, Yocto, or Embedded Linux.
  • Knowledge of wireless protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, LoRa).
  • Familiarity with Git version control, CI/CD pipelines for embedded builds, and unit testing frameworks (e.g., Unity, CppUTest).

What We Offer

  • Targeted Placement: Direct marketing to our network of hiring managers in the Tech, Automotive, Manufacturing, and MedTech industries.
  • Technical Resume Rebuild: Optimization of your profile to highlight embedded firmware, C/C++ expertise, and hardware integration skills.
  • Interview Coaching: Guidance on technical firmware interviews, microcontroller concepts, and embedded system design case studies.
