Job Title: Orientation & Mobility Specialist
Job Location: Montgomery County ESC - Regional Center

What You'll Do:
- Provide orientation and mobility (O&M) services aligned with IEP goals to promote student independence and participation in educational programs.
- Conduct activity/environmental analyses to identify barriers limiting student access and participation.
- Develop measurable, attainable, and relevant goals and objectives with benchmarks for students.
- Teach travel skills, orientation strategies, and mobility techniques to students with visual impairments.
- Provide training in the use of mobility devices, including canes, and teach transportation and navigation skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and staff to explain O&M services and support educational integration.
- Implement positive behavioral interventions and supports, teaching functional skills (communication, self-regulation, socialization, independence).
- Maintain accurate records, submit timely documentation, and comply with district and MSP reporting requirements.
- Ohio State Board of Education Pupil Services license as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
- National ACVREP Certification (or documentation of completion).
- Knowledge of O&M strategies, assistive devices, and educational best practices for students with visual impairments.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to high-performance standards and maintaining confidentiality.
- Satisfactory fingerprinting and criminal records check results (provided for free by MCESC!).
