What does an erosion control specialist do?

What are examples of erosion control?

Erosion control for erosion control specialists includes methods such as installing silt fences, applying mulch or geotextiles, planting vegetation to stabilize soil, and using erosion control blankets. These techniques help prevent soil loss and protect construction sites or disturbed land from water and wind erosion.

How much do erosion control inspectors make?

Erosion control inspectors typically earn between $40,000 and $60,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and certifications. They often work on construction sites, inspecting erosion control measures and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Location: Perrysburg, OH

Pay Range: $24 – $32 per hour (Based on experience; benefits are optional)

The Role

We are seeking a versatile Equipment & Fleet Maintenance Technician for a permanent, full-time position. You will work alongside our Lead Mechanic to maintain our equipment and vehicle fleet, while also assisting with general building maintenance and yard projects. This is a great role for someone who likes variety — whether it’s wrenching on a loader, troubleshooting equipment, or handling repairs and improvement projects around the facility.

Benefits & Perks:

  • Full Benefits Available: Optional Health, Dental, Vision insurance & 401(k).
  • Paid Time Off: Earned PTO for work-life balance.
  • Employee Discount: Savings on all our landscape products.
  • Flexible Scheduling: 8 or 10-hour day shifts; Monday–Friday (Weekends as needed).
  • Year-Round Work: A permanent role in a stable, growing local business.
Compensation:

$24 - $32 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Work with our Lead Mechanic to diagnose, service, and repair equipment, including loaders, grinders, screeners, conveyors, and other production equipment.
  • Fleet Maintenance: Assist with preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on company trucks, trailers, semis, and dump trucks. Diesel experience is a plus.
  • Hydraulic, Electrical & Mechanical Repairs: Perform or assist with repairs involving hydraulic systems, electrical issues, engines, drivetrains, and general equipment components.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Complete routine inspections, fluid changes, greasing, parts replacement, and maintenance tasks to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate equipment as needed to diagnose issues, test repairs, move machinery, and support yard operations. Loader experience preferred.
  • Facility & General Repairs: Assist with general property maintenance, minor building repairs, basic construction projects, and improvements around the shop and yard.
  • Small Engine Maintenance: Maintain and repair smaller equipment, tools, and other motorized equipment.

Qualifications:
  • Mechanical experience with equipment and/or heavy trucks (semi/dump truck experience is a major advantage).
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform mechanical repairs; hydraulic or diesel experience is a plus.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery (loaders, etc.) or a willingness to learn.
  • General repair skills, including basic construction, building maintenance, and facility repairs.
  • Reliable team player with a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
