Professionals in this role integrate hardware and software components, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless communication between network elements. They work closely with telecom operators to optimize performance and support new technology rollouts, including 5G. Strong knowledge of networking, protocols, and Ericsson tools like ENM or OSS is essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Ericsson Integration position, and why are they important?

To excel as an Ericsson Integration specialist, you need a background in telecommunications engineering, strong knowledge of mobile network technologies (such as GSM, UMTS, LTE, and 5G), and hands-on experience with integration processes. About this opportunity:
Backend Design Engineering Manager - ASIC SoC
Austin, Texas
About the Team
You'll be joining Ericsson Silicon - the team designing and delivering the custom ASICs that sit at the heart of the world's most advanced 5G networks. Reporting to the Head of ASIC SoC within Product Engineering Unit Silicon, you'll lead a team of backend engineers based in Austin, TX, responsible for driving synthesis and backend functions for Radio and RAN Compute packaged ASICs - working with both internal teams and external ASIC service providers.
This is a leadership role with real weight behind it. You'll be a core member of the ASIC SoC Leadership Team, partnering closely with Integration and Backend sections across Product Engineering Unit Silicon to deliver silicon that meets the highest standards of quality, schedule, and performance.
The Role
We're looking for a hands-on, energizing leader who knows how to build backend teams that execute with precision. You'll own the synthesis and backend engineering function in Austin, and you'll be expected to shape culture, build capability, and drive results - all at the same time.
This isn't a role for someone who manages from a distance. You'll be in the work, coaching engineers, navigating complex stakeholder relationships, and making sure the Austin team is tightly aligned with global priorities.
What You'll Do
Lead and grow the team - Recruit, mentor, and develop synthesis and backend engineers, creating a high-performance unit with clear direction and strong technical identity
Drive backend execution - Oversee synthesis and physical backend functions in partnership with internal teams and external ASIC service providers
Shape global strategy - Actively contribute to the ASIC SoC leadership team to define and execute on shared goals and priorities across sites
Own resource and capability planning - Secure monthly planning across ASIC projects, ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time
Build strong cross-functional partnerships - Work closely with Integration and Backend sections across PEU Silicon to maintain alignment and momentum
Join our Team
About this opportunity:
What you'll bring:
Several years of experience leading silicon R&D teams, with a track record of delivering in complex, distributed environments
Solid experience in a people leadership role, with strong cultural awareness and the ability to lead across geographies
Hands-on understanding of core ASIC disciplines - Architecture, Design, Synthesis, Scalability, Portability across technology nodes, TLV, Integration best practices, and productization
Experience managing large, multi-site development teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
You'll grow into:
Deeper familiarity with Ericsson-specific toolchains, flows, and internal ASIC development processes
Broader strategic ownership across PEU Silicon as the organization scales
What Makes Someone Successful Here
The leaders who thrive in this role are the ones who generate energy - not just manage it. You bring out the best in the engineers around you, push for continuous improvement, and hold a high bar without losing the trust of your team.
You're comfortable navigating a room full of strong opinions and competing priorities. You know when to be diplomatic and when to be direct. You build the kind of dedication in a team that outlasts any single project.
If you're energized by complex silicon challenges, motivated by building teams that deliver world-class results, and ready to lead from Austin while thinking globally - this is your role.
