American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Prestonburg, Kentucky.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN with a KY or compact license and at least 2 years of ER experience for a night shift travel position.

Details
  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric populations
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule rotating 3x12 hours one week and 4x12 hours the next (19:00-7:30)
  • Float required within scope of practice
  • Every other weekend required
  • Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated
Requirements
  • Active KY or compact RN license in hand required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of current ER experience required
  • 3-6 months of Level IV Trauma or above experience preferred
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, CPI (or Avade)
  • AVADE certification preferred
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
  • Experience managing psychiatric patients including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
  • Pediatric emergency experience including asthma, respiratory infections, and behavioral health conditions
  • Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, and intubation support
  • Orthopedic skills including splinting and ortho trauma management
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including starting and maintaining IVs
  • Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
  • Two professional references required, one from a charge nurse or higher and one from a supervisor, both completed within the last year
  • Driver's license copy required with address matching permanent residence
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions including trauma, psychiatric, respiratory, and orthopedic cases
  • Perform triage and apply isolation precautions/PPE as needed
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates not accepted
  • Up to 7 days of RTO considered if presented upfront with no changes accepted afterward
  • Must work either a major or minor holiday during the assignment
  • Travelers must take a minimum 6-month break from the system after completing one year before becoming eligible to return
  • Traveler pairs are accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
