Equipment Relocation information

What are some common challenges faced during equipment relocation and how can they be managed?

One of the main challenges in equipment relocation is coordinating logistics to minimize downtime and ensure the safety of both the equipment and team members. This often involves detailed planning, disassembly and reassembly, and sometimes working in tight or hazardous environments. Effective communication with other departments, such as operations and maintenance, is essential for a smooth transition. Staying organized and adhering to safety protocols helps mitigate risks and keeps projects on schedule.

What is the difference between Equipment Relocation vs Equipment Installation?

AspectEquipment RelocationEquipment Installation
CredentialsTypically requires technical skills, certifications in handling equipmentRequires technical skills, certifications, and sometimes electrical or mechanical licenses

Equipment Relocation involves moving existing equipment from one location to another, focusing on transportation and setup. Equipment Installation, on the other hand, involves setting up new equipment, ensuring proper connection and operation. Both roles require technical skills and are common in industries like manufacturing and healthcare, but they serve different purposes in the equipment lifecycle.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an equipment relocation specialist?

To thrive as an Equipment Relocation Specialist, you need experience in logistics, equipment handling, and a good understanding of safety protocols, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant certifications. Familiarity with forklifts, pallet jacks, rigging equipment, and inventory management systems is typically required. Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and effective communication are essential soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure safe, efficient, and coordinated equipment moves, minimizing damage and downtime for organizations.

What is equipment relocation?

Equipment relocation refers to the process of moving machinery, tools, or other large equipment from one location to another, often within industrial, manufacturing, or commercial settings. This can involve disassembly, transportation, and reinstallation of the equipment to ensure it operates correctly in the new location. Professionals in this field must carefully plan each step to minimize downtime, prevent damage, and adhere to safety regulations. Equipment relocation may also involve coordinating with other contractors, managing logistics, and securing necessary permits.

Job description

Lead Mechanic – Farm & Heavy Construction Equipment | Relocation Assistance Available

Now considering candidates nationwide. Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.

Job Overview

  • Company: KOENECKE EQUIPMENT INC
  • Salary/Pay Rate: $30 to $35 per hour, plus performance and sign-on bonuses
  • Location: Reedsburg — relocating candidates welcome (10% travel required)
  • Relocation: Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates
  • Job/Employment Type: Full Time
  • Project Scope: Service repair on farm and construction equipment
  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: None required — no state re-credentialing needed to start

Considering a Move? Here's What You're Moving To

If you're an experienced equipment mechanic willing to relocate, this role is built for you:

  • Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates moving to the beautiful South Central region.
  • No licenses or certifications are required. There is nothing to re-test for or transfer in before you start — your experience is the qualification.
  • 68 years of local history. You are not relocating for a startup or a short-term project. This is an established, family-oriented country dealership with a long track record.
  • A sign-on bonus is part of the offer structure, in addition to performance-based bonuses.
  • A lead role from day one — you step directly into steering the service department, not into a queue for it.

The Opportunity

You will serve as a vital leader within our field operations, bringing the personal character and technical expertise required to steer our service department with total integrity. This role offers you the unique opportunity to make an immediate impact in a family-oriented country dealership with 68 years of local history.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead the diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance for a diverse fleet of farm and heavy construction equipment.
  • Direct daily service department operations, upholding absolute integrity and professional accountability in every field task.
  • Manage on-site customer service calls within the region, ensuring swift and highly accurate mechanical resolutions.
  • Optimize shop workflow efficiency and mentor junior mechanics to enhance overall team technical proficiency.
  • Enforce rigid safety standards across all field operations, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and protective equipment.
  • Coordinate directly with operations leaders to streamline parts procurement and minimize machinery downtime.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience as a farm or heavy construction equipment mechanic.
  • Proven capability to lead service operations with a strong emphasis on personal character and professional integrity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting complex mechanical, hydraulic, and diesel powertrain systems.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Absolute willingness to travel up to 10% of working hours to support regional clients on-site.
  • Willingness to relocate to the Reedsburg area. Candidates from any location will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience servicing Deutz tractors
  • Completed technical training or formal apprenticeship program specialized in heavy equipment or agricultural mechanics.
  • Prior experience managing equipment logistics, project scheduling, or leading mechanical field crews.
  • Strong technical background servicing diverse equipment across industrial, commercial, and government project scopes.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates moving to the beautiful South Central region.
  • Stable bi-weekly pay cycle augmented by competitive sign-on and performance-based bonus structures.
  • Additional performance-driven incentives, including project completion bonuses and pay-per-performance plans.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Paid time off covering vacation and paid holidays.
  • Professional wellness reimbursements and stipends, along with company-provided safety gear.
  • Internal employee referral bonus program.
