Equipment Maintenance Supervisor

• Full-time, onsite in Portland, OR
• Target base salary range is $90-106K (possibly flexible for the right candidate), plus a profit share up to 20% of annual salary

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Equipment Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of maintenance technicians supporting equipment within a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment.

This position is responsible for technician leadership, equipment reliability, preventive maintenance execution, troubleshooting, resource planning, and coordination with manufacturing and engineering teams. The supervisor will serve as a key technical resource for equipment issues while ensuring the maintenance team is properly trained, staffed, and equipped to support production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, schedule, coach, and develop a team of equipment maintenance technicians supporting assigned manufacturing equipment.
• Plan technician coverage and maintenance activities based on production priorities, equipment needs, available resources, and workload.
• Provide technical direction during equipment troubleshooting, repair, recovery, and modification activities.
• Lead the analysis of equipment and system failures to identify root causes and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Partner with equipment, manufacturing, and engineering teams to resolve recurring problems and develop both immediate and long-term equipment solutions.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance activities while minimizing disruption to manufacturing operations.
• Monitor equipment condition, maintenance performance, PM completion, tool availability, downtime, overtime, and other maintenance-related metrics.
• Ensure appropriate staffing and technical resources are available to maintain equipment reliability and support production requirements.
• Determine when additional engineering, vendor, contractor, or other technical resources are required to resolve equipment problems.
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, including repair histories, calibrations, testing, preventive maintenance records, procedures, and spare-parts information.
• Evaluate maintenance practices and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, troubleshooting effectiveness, technician productivity, and overall maintenance performance.
• Train and mentor technicians on troubleshooting techniques, equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safe work practices.
• Establish performance expectations, provide regular feedback, address performance concerns, and support the professional development of maintenance personnel.
• Maintain technician training records and ensure required licenses, certifications, and qualifications remain current.
• Promote safe work practices and maintain organized work areas consistent with 5S principles.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with applicable safety requirements, including procedures related to electrical/mechanical hazards, process chemicals, and hazardous materials.
• Communicate equipment status, significant maintenance issues, resource needs, and operational risks to appropriate manufacturing and engineering leadership.
• Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to manage work orders, preventive maintenance activities, equipment history, and maintenance reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronic Technology, Microelectronics, Industrial Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Management, or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• 6+ years of related equipment maintenance or industrial manufacturing experience.
• Previous experience leading, supervising, or providing technical direction to maintenance technicians.
• Strong knowledge of industrial or semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and reliability practices.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex electrical, mechanical, and/or electromechanical equipment problems.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical documentation, operating procedures, safety requirements, engineering drawings, and schematics.
• Experience developing or reviewing maintenance procedures, technical instructions, and equipment documentation.
• Experience using a CMMS or maintenance management system such as SAP for work orders, preventive maintenance, and equipment records.
• Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple equipment issues and allocate technician resources effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across maintenance, engineering, manufacturing, vendors, and leadership.
• Ability to coach technicians and improve troubleshooting capabilities across a maintenance organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering, technical, or management discipline.
• Electrical license or other applicable technical certification.
• Previous semiconductor, wafer manufacturing, microelectronics, or other highly automated manufacturing experience.
• Experience working with equipment in a cleanroom manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a manufacturing and cleanroom environment. Employees may work around electrical and mechanical equipment, automated manufacturing systems, and process chemicals.

The role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and may involve bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing, and accessing equipment for troubleshooting or inspection. Cleanroom garments and other required personal protective equipment must be worn as appropriate.
