Equine Associate Veterinarian

Oakhurst Equine Veterinary Services is an established, busy equine practice in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. We have a strong client base, a diverse caseload, experienced veterinarians, and a lot of opportunity ahead of us.

Oakhurst provides a broad range of equine veterinary services, including:

• Sports Medicine & Lameness
• Reproduction
• Podiatry
• Dentistry
• Internal & Preventive Medicine
• Surgery and standing surgical procedures
• Diagnostic Imaging, including radiography and ultrasound
• Pre-purchase examinations
• Regenerative therapies
• Ambulatory and emergency care
• Our caseload provides the opportunity to see everything from routine ambulatory medicine to challenging lameness, performance, reproductive, and medical cases.

We are particularly interested in veterinarians with a strong interest in lameness and sports medicine, as well as veterinarians who can bring additional expertise to the practice.

Who We’d Like to Meet
We welcome veterinarians at different stages of their careers. Experience matters, but attitude, initiative, and the desire to contribute matter just as much.

We are especially interested in veterinarians with experience or a strong interest in lameness and sports medicine and are also interested in connecting with board-certified or board-eligible surgeons and internal medicine specialists who could help expand these areas of our practice.

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and eligibility for licensure in Oregon
• Previous equine veterinary experience preferred; new graduates with strong equine experience and demonstrated initiative are welcome to apply
• Strong interest and/or experience in lameness and sports medicine is highly desirable
• Sound clinical judgment and the ability to work independently while knowing when collaboration is needed
• Strong communication skills and professional client relationships, with an expectation of clear, timely medical records, accurate documentation, and appropriate billing for services provided
• Willingness to participate in emergency and shared on-call responsibilities
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of cases, follow through, and communicate effectively with clients and the team
• Curiosity and initiative—someone who looks for ways to improve patient care, client service, efficiency, and the practice as a whole
• Willingness to learn, accept constructive feedback, and share knowledge with others
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute positively to practice culture
• Professionalism, reliability, and a genuine commitment to high-quality equine medicine
• A desire to contribute something of your own to an established practice and help shape its future
