What is an equine groom?

Equine grooms are professionals responsible for the daily care and management of horses. Their duties include feeding, grooming, exercising, and cleaning stables, as well as monitoring the health and well-being of the animals. They often work closely with trainers, veterinarians, and owners to ensure horses are healthy, comfortable, and ready for events or riding. Grooms are essential in both competitive settings and private stables, providing hands-on attention to each horse.

What are the daily responsibilities of an equine groom?

As an Equine Groom, your daily responsibilities often include feeding and watering horses, cleaning stalls, grooming and exercising the animals, and inspecting them for signs of injury or illness. Grooms frequently help tack up horses for riding and assist with basic medical treatments under the supervision of a veterinarian. These tasks are essential for maintaining the health and well-being of the horses and ensuring the smooth operation of the stable. Grooms also play a key role in building trust and rapport with the horses, which benefits both the animals and the wider team.
