Bayhill Equine is a fully ambulatory practice specializing in sports medicine for the performance horse. With a highly trained staff and state-of-the-art equipment and treatment protocols, Bayhill Equine stands as the preeminent practice in the Bay Area. The sports medicine aspect includes pre-purchase exams, lameness workups and treatment, and the latest techniques in regenerative medicine. We offer the latest diagnostic equipment in an ambulatory practice including digital x-ray and ultrasound, and both 1-meter and 3-meter video endoscopes. Treatment modalities include stem cell therapy, Alpha 2 EQ, PRP, IRAP, Pro Stride and a class 4 laser. We also offer acupuncture services.
Our externship aims to provide veterinary students the opportunity to observe quality equine medicine in a learning environment that is conducive to increasing their knowledge and skills, along with exposure to the day-to-day factors of managing a private practice.
Types of Cases: Highest level of sports medicine for primarily hunter/jumpers. Our caseload also includes a significant number of dressage, eventing, and some pleasure horses. Most cases are lameness oriented.
Estimated Daily or Weekly Workload: Varies with time of year and emergency case load. Normal business hours are 8:30am-4:30pm Monday through Friday and by appointment on Saturday. Emergency services are provided 24 hours a day to clients on the Peninsula.
