Description
Our hospital is seeking a Full-Time Farm Assistant to help provide outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor equine hospital.

The Farm Assistant is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of equine patients. The Farm Assistant will work closely with the veterinarians and technicians to help ensure all patients receive proper care and treatment. 
Applicants must demonstrate professionalism, dependability, healthy and positive communication skills, and the ability to multi-task. Our next team member will be an energetic people-and-pet person with excellent work ethic and social and organizational skills. Must be willing to work flexible hours.

  • Excellent communication skills, a sense of urgency, and working harmoniously with teammates is required
  • Prior experience preferred
  • This position requires regular on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Due to the nature of veterinary hospital operations, in-person attendance is necessary to support patient care, respond to time-sensitive needs, collaborate with clinical teams, and maintain the safety and well-being of patients, clients, and staff. Skill, Knowledge, & Expertise
  • Primary responsibility of direct patient care (feeding/watering horses & cleaning stalls) 
  • Document feedings and check water throughout the day
  • Ensure that troughs, buckets, and pans are cleaned, and that stalls are properly bedded and cleaned for patient care
  • Maintain inpatient records, including feedings, location, and admission/discharge notes
  • Help with patient handling, the transportation of horses, feed, hay and equipment 
  • Perform lawn maintenance as needed to ensure that areas, including fence lines, are cut and complimentary of our practice appearance
  • Maintain parking areas, lameness pad, and arenas, ensuring that they are clean and orderly
  • Maintain a clean facility by cleaning floors, removing garbage, and cleaning multi-surface areas as needed 
  • Operate farm equipment for the movement of hay, feed, and shavings
