Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
This role supports a Med-Surg unit caring for stroke and post-surgical patients in a structured acute care environment with strong interdisciplinary support.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This assignment is ideal for Med-Surg nurses who are comfortable managing a full patient load, working with telemetry-supported patients, and providing comprehensive care across a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses.
ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
13-week contract
Night shift 3x12s (18:30-07:00)
Patient ratio: 1:6 :contentReference[oaicite:0]index=0
Unit size: 39 beds / 31 rooms
Daily census: ~30 patients
Weekend requirement: as needed
Floating required within scope
Option for 36 or 48 hours

COMPENSATION

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide care for Med-Surg patients including stroke and post-surgical populations
Administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA
Manage IV therapy, PICC lines, and blood product administration
Monitor patients on telemetry (central monitoring support provided)
Perform respiratory support including oxygen therapy and BiPAP/CPAP
Manage wounds, drains, and post-operative recovery care
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for coordinated patient care
Document patient care in Epic EMR

Requirements

Minimum 1 year Med-Surg RN experience REQUIRED
First-time travelers accepted (strong experience preferred)
BLS and NIHSS REQUIRED
Epic experience REQUIRED
Must be comfortable with 1:6 patient ratios
Experience with stroke and post-surgical patients REQUIRED
