POSITION SUMMARY
The Cogito/Clarity Database Administrator is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing the Cogito databases to align with the environment strategy. This role involves engaging in capacity planning to ensure sufficient system resources, monitoring database size and health, and creating and managing plans for statistics and index maintenance. A key aspect of the role is understanding performance metrics, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues as they arise, including responding to emergency and after-hours situations. The administrator manages login configurations for different access levels and works on RDBMS upgrades and updates for both production and non-production environments. Additionally, the position involves performing regular database backups, verifying restores, and ensuring business continuity through thorough process maintenance and testing. The administrator is also responsible for installing and maintaining the necessary administrative and monitoring tools to ensure high availability and performance of the Epic system. Adhering to vendor and Epic best practices for hardware and software configuration is essential, and the administrator actively participates in change control processes for all planned technical activities. Collaboration with technical teams and Epic is crucial to ensure proactive and effective support. Off-hours work and participation in on-call rotation are required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
  1. RDBMS Certification REQUIRED (Preferably Microsoft SQL Server).
  2. Technically proficient in MS SQL Server analytical database platforms
  3. Working knowledge of the database operating systems.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  1. Knowledge of system development methodology and principles of project management.
  2. Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  3. Technical knowledge and understanding of clinical systems.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with staff.
  5. Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.

License/Certification/Registration:
  1. None required

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Configuring and maintaining the Cogito databases according to the environment strategy
  2. Engaging in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources
  3. Monitoring database size and health
  4. Creating and managing plans for maintaining statistics and indexes
  5. Understanding performance metrics, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues
  6. Responding to emergency and after-hours issues
  7. Managing the logins for different types of access, including login behavior and working environment configuration
  8. Applying RDMS upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments
  9. Performing database backups and verifying restores
  10. Maintaining and testing processes related to business continuity
  11. Installing and maintaining the administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of your Epic system
  12. Following vendor and Epic best practices for hardware and software configuration
  13. Participating in your change control process for all planned application and technical activities
  14. Collaborating with your technical teams and Epic to ensure proactive support
