Job description

Overview

WakeMed is seeking a Systems Analyst II, Epic Clinical Applications to lead the design, build, implementation, optimization, and support of Epic clinical applications. This role serves as a key liaison between Information Services, clinical and operational departments, and software vendors to ensure technology solutions effectively support patient care and business operations.

The Systems Analyst II is responsible for all aspects of application lifecycle management, including workflow analysis, application configuration, testing, documentation, reporting requirements, end‑user support, and system optimization. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with exceptional customer service, analytical thinking, and collaboration skills to drive continuous improvement across clinical systems.

Key Responsibilities

Application Design, Build & Change Management (40%)

  • Analyze customer and operational requirements to design and implement application enhancements and system changes.
  • Research, configure, test, validate, and deploy application modifications to meet business and clinical needs.
  • Lead change request implementation activities while ensuring alignment with organizational standards and best practices.
  • Participate in system upgrades, maintenance, and optimization initiatives.

Workflow Analysis & System Design (20%)

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of departmental workflows, data collection processes, reporting requirements, and operational challenges.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for technology‑driven process improvements.
  • Apply industry and Epic best practices to support the information system lifecycle.
  • Translate business requirements into effective system solutions.

Tier 2 Technical Support (20%)

  • Provide timely, high‑quality Tier 2 support for assigned Epic applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application, system, and workflow‑related issues.
  • Collaborate with end users, technical teams, and vendors to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to clinical and business operations.

Documentation, Training & Knowledge Sharing (10%)

  • Develop and maintain application documentation, workflows, change records, and support materials.
  • Educate team members and stakeholders regarding system modifications and enhancements.
  • Support knowledge transfer and cross‑functional team development.

Reporting & Analytics Support (10%)

  • Develop report specifications and collaborate with report developers to meet operational, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Support reporting initiatives related to quality, performance, and regulatory programs.
  • Ensure data integrity and usability of application‑generated reporting.
Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in Technology, Healthcare, Business, or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Systems Analysis, Information Technology, or Clinical Applications Support.
  • Experience supporting business or clinical software applications.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

Preferred

  • Epic Certification in area of responsibility.
  • Clinical, healthcare, or technical certification/licensure relevant to assigned application.
  • Experience supporting Epic clinical applications in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare workflows, operational reporting, and regulatory requirements.
