What are Epic MSTs?

Epic MSTs (Medical Systems Trainers) are professionals who specialize in training healthcare staff on how to use Epic, a leading electronic health record (EHR) software system. They create, coordinate, and deliver educational sessions to ensure that clinicians and other hospital personnel can efficiently and effectively use the Epic system for patient care, documentation, and workflow management. Epic MSTs often customize training materials and provide ongoing support to address user questions and issues as new features or updates are implemented.

Epic MSTs often encounter challenges such as balancing multiple training schedules, addressing diverse learning needs of clinical staff, and troubleshooting technical issues on short notice. They must be adaptable, as workflows can vary significantly across departments, requiring MSTs to tailor their training and support accordingly. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as they frequently work with clinicians, IT professionals, and project managers to ensure a smooth transition to the Epic system.
