What is an Epic Logistics job?

Epic Logistics jobs refer to positions that involve managing, coordinating, and optimizing the supply chain and transportation processes using Epic, a leading healthcare software platform. Professionals in these roles ensure that medical supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals are delivered efficiently to healthcare facilities. They often work with healthcare providers, vendors, and IT teams to streamline logistics operations, improve inventory management, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. These roles require strong organizational skills, knowledge of healthcare logistics, and familiarity with Epic's supply chain modules.

What are some common challenges faced by Epic Logistics professionals when coordinating multi-site healthcare projects?

Professionals in Epic Logistics often encounter challenges such as aligning timelines among diverse hospital departments, managing complex inventory for medical equipment and supplies, and ensuring compliance with strict healthcare regulations. Effective communication across multidisciplinary teams is essential, as is the ability to adapt quickly to unexpected changes or urgent requests. Mastery of project management tools and a proactive approach to problem-solving are crucial for keeping projects on track and minimizing disruptions to patient care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Epic Logistics coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Epic Logistics Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in supply chain or logistics management, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with logistics software, inventory management systems, and Epic Systems (if working in healthcare logistics) is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability are standout soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure efficient operations, timely delivery of goods, and seamless collaboration across teams in fast-paced environments.

Job description

Automated Logistics Systems (ALS) is a family-owned Top 100 (Transport Topics) third-party logistics (3PL) company headquartered in Jackson, Michigan. With roots dating back to 1927, ALS has grown from a single-truck operation into a leading transportation and supply chain solutions provider serving customers throughout North America.
Today, ALS provides freight brokerage, managed transportation, warehousing, consolidation, and supply chain solutions for customers across a variety of industries. While we have the resources, technology, and carrier network to compete with the largest logistics providers in the industry, we remain committed to the values that built our company: strong relationships, exceptional service, continuous improvement, and treating employees and customers like family.
At ALS, our people are the foundation of our success. We foster a competitive, team-oriented environment where employees are empowered to make an impact, develop their careers, and contribute to delivering EPIC experiences for our customers every day. Our culture is built on accountability, collaboration, and a shared commitment to being "Beyond Driven."
If you're looking for an opportunity to grow in the transportation and logistics industry while working alongside driven, high-performing teammates, ALS is the place for you.
Responsibilities:
  • Own Operational Execution: Manage daily shipment activity from order creation through delivery. Maintain accurate shipment information, provide proactive shipment visibility, communicate updates effectively, and ensure all documentation and operational records are completed accurately and on time.
  • Navigate Escalations and Cross-Functional Resolution: Own operational issues through resolution by collaborating with internal teams and external partners. Communicate clearly during disruptions, escalate risks appropriately, and drive timely, solution-focused outcomes.
  • Own KPI Performance and Data Accuracy: Support operational performance through accurate data management, billing readiness, timely updates, and consistent execution. Monitor reporting accuracy, identify process improvements, and contribute to departmental KPI achievement.
  • Protect Margin Through Operational Discipline: Execute shipments with a balance of service, efficiency, and cost awareness. Identify risks that impact profitability, prevent avoidable costs, and support operational decisions that protect both customer commitments and company margins.
  • Protect Client Confidence Through Proactive Operational Engagement: Build trust through responsive communication, proactive shipment management, and consistent service execution. Anticipate customer needs, identify service risks early, and support a positive customer experience that strengthens long-term relationships.

Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of logistics operations and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with customers, teammates, and vendors.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • A team-first attitude with the ability to follow processes and take initiative for continuous improvement.

We Offer You:
  • An engaging office environment with weekly themes and events that foster our office culture.
  • A collaborative team environment with daily team meetings, software tools, and a supportive structure.
  • A comprehensive onboarding and training plan designed to set you up for success in this critical role.
  • A management team with extensive experience, who started in similar roles and understand the value you bring to our ALS family.
  • Competitive base salary, bonus structure, paid time off, automatic 401k contributions, and a company-paid health benefits program.

Pay Range: $45,000 - $50,000 per year
