GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Vice President, Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) for Allegheny Health Network is an enterprise executive clinical leader responsible for shaping the digital future of nursing practice.. Operating at the intersection of nursing, clinical operations, and enterprise technology, this role leads the modernization and virtualization of care delivery to reduce administrative burden and enhance professional practice. The CNIO ensures digital capabilities are leveraged as workforce multipliers, advancing nurse experience, clinical safety, and operational efficiency in alignment with Highmark Health's Living Health strategy.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the design, adoption, and optimization of digital nursing workflows and care models, including virtual and remote nursing delivery models, that increase time at bedside, reduce documentation burden, and support a mobile, distributed nursing workforce. (25%)
Perform management responsibilities to include, but not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity. Plan, organize, staff, and manage the day-to-day operations of the team; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; manage to assigned budgets. (20%)
Own the enterprise nursing informatics roadmap and lead governance structures that prioritize initiatives, balance operational stability with transformational innovation, and establish standardized nursing practices across all hospitals and clinics. Ensure alignment between nursing strategy, clinical operations, and enterprise technology direction. (20%)
Serve as the executive 'Voice of Nursing' within the information and digital functions, partnering in a physiciannurse executive dyad with physician, clinical, operational, and technology leaders to codesign interdisciplinary workflows. (20%)
Provide executive oversight for the maturity, optimization, and governance of nursing documentation and clinical workflow platforms, including the enterprise Epic Gold Star roadmap for nursing practice. (15%)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Master's degree in Nursing Informatics, Nursing, Health Informatics, Health Administration, or related field.
10 years of progressive leadership experience in nursing informatics or clinical informatics within a large, complex health system
Deep, hands-on experience with Epic implementation and Gold Star methodologies
Registered Nurse (RN)
Preferred
Doctorate in DNP or PhD
