What we want:
The Clinical Informatics Analyst provides leadership, administration, and ongoing support for the College of Dentistry's Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. This position ensures that health information systems and workflows are optimized for quality patient care, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and data integrity. This role serves as the primary liaison between clinical operations, campus IT, vendors, and compliance offices to support technology solutions that align with institutional priorities and clinical best practices. What you need to know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire's experience.
Work Schedule/Location: Located in Dallas, TX, this is an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Evening and weekend work may be required

Required education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of related experience in a medical/clinical/healthcare setting including experience in two or more of the following: EHR/EMR systems, medical billing systems, ancillary clinical systems and/or document management systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience improving clinical workflows and supporting end users in a patient care setting.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, security standards, and healthcare documentation practices.
  • Strong communication, training, and customer service skills.
  • Degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Public Health, or related field.
  • Five (5)+ years of progressive experience administering EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Axium, Epic, Dentrix Enterprise, Eaglesoft, etc.) in dental, ambulatory, or academic clinic settings.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools (e.g., PMP, Agile, Lean, ITIL).
  • Experience working in a higher education, public institution, or health science center environment.
  • Familiarity with HL7/FHIR interfaces, reporting tools, and clinical data extraction.
  • Certified Health Informatician (e.g., CAHIMS/CPHIMS) or RHIA/RHIT certification.

Responsibilities
As the college's sole Clinical Informatics Analyst, this position is responsible for more than just system administration. The role operates as a strategic partner who ensures operational efficiency and spearheads continuous improvement and system optimization strategies for the college's health information systems.
This involves (but is not limited to):
  • System Administration: Serves as primary administrator for the College's EHR systems, ensuring system stability, usability, compliance, and data accuracy. Evaluates, develops, and modifies EHR templates, clinical workflows, and documentation standards to enhance efficiency, patient experience, quality of care, and financial performance.
  • Project Management: Leads and manages major informatics and clinical system implementation projects from initiation to completion.
  • Compliance: Provides training, onboarding, and ongoing support to faculty, staff, students, and clinical teams on EHR usage, documentation practices, and regulatory compliance. Collaborates with campus IT, compliance, legal, security, and privacy offices to ensure adherence to Federal and State health information regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and Texas A&M University System policies.
  • Business Relationships: Serves as primary business relationship manager with EHR vendors and other clinical technology partners, including contract coordination and performance oversight.
  • Strategic Planning: Participates in strategic planning for health information systems to support clinical growth, accreditation needs, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Maintains and contributes to the development of operational policies, workflow documentation, and training resources.
